Talent that’s making the world sing high praises.
Aabhas & Shreyas have been on a journey to redefine Indian classical music with a contemporary touch. Their experimentation with acoustics while retaining the original charm of the song is their musical signature, a style that is indeed extraordinary.
Aabhas – the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Children Special 2004 has also won immense appreciation for his talent in Amul Star Voice Of India Season 1. He has been an anchor for popular shows like Amul Star Voice Of India – Chhote Ustaad Season 1 & 2, Music Ka Mahamuqabla, Bharat Ki Shaan and Suron Ka Eklavya.
The duo have composed and sung in two albums Mahanayaka & Thagni. They have also created music for ad films like Jab Bachche They for Paper Boat Drinks and the web series Ranjish Hi Sahi. Over the years, Aabhas & Shreyas have had noteworthy collaborations with celebrated names from the industry like Salim Sulaiman, Sonu Nigam, Papon, Javed Ali, Harshdeep Kaur to name a few.
Coming from a musical family and after winning reality shows at a very young age, Aabhas & Shreyas have launched a special initiative – ‘Project Sukoon’ featuring their band Indie Routes. An endeavour to spread peace and love through music in a world defined by stress and pressure. Project Sukoon includes Indian Folk, Spiritual Music and Ballads presented in contemporary style and also Folk and Sufi songs along with their popular originals like Kya Tan Manjta Re and Kaahe Ko Sataaye.
Initially trained by their parents and then by their guru Late Pt. S.G. Tamhankar in Jabalpur, Aabhas & Shreyas feel that a basic training in Indian Classical Music gives a singer the perfect platform to grow their craft. The duo strongly believe that one should start the day with Riyaz, but if the schedule doesn’t permit then any time is good. But a good 1-2 hours is a must. They are also of the opinion that hearing contributes a lot in one’s development. So one must devote at least 3-4 hours a day to listening and practicing.
“Keep believing in yourself and keep striving. Never stop developing your craft.” This is the mantra that the brothers swear by. They count amongst their inspiration the likes of Lata Mangeshkar, Jagjit Singh, Mohd Rafi, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ustad Mehdi Hasan, Pt. Ravi Shankar, Ustad Zakir Hussain and many more. The teachings and writings of Sant Kabir Das, Mira Bai and Baba Bulleh Shah also motivate their musical journey.
